Diabetes Foot Assessments

This includes a fully comprehensive assessment including Medical History, Vascular Assessment using Doppler Ultrasound to assess lower limb blood flow and circulation followed by a Neurological Examination and Diabetic Neuropathy Tool. An Ankle brachial pressure index (ABPI) is available on request and will incur an extra charge (£55).

Nail care

Nail conditions vary from thick nails to brittle nails and can become ingrown. The common causes are by fungal or bacterial organisms or can be caused by many different systemic conditions like peripheral vascular disease or Rheumatoid Arthritis (£50).

Initial Assessment

All new patient assessments include a medical history, social history and a vascular assessment (£55).


Acupuncture
Acupuncture available for muscle and nerve related foot pain and Painful Diabetic Neuropathy. Please be aware multiple appointments maybe required for optimal outcomes (£50).


Wound care
Ulcer assessment and redressing appointments for traumatic and post op wounds available.

Corns and callus

Corns and calluses are thick, hardened layers of skin that develop when the skin tries to protect itself against friction or pressure. Corns occur over a small, concentrated area leading to a painful point over time and callus is hard skin over a larger surface area and is not always as deep rooted or painful as a corn. Corns and callus need debridement and an assessment to find the cause of friction and pressure to prevent them reoccurring. Corns are often mistaken for Verrucas (£50).

Verruca
Verrucae are commonly caused by a virus called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Some are painful and some are not, depending on the location and individuals immunity. Pharmaceutical treatments available for example Verrutop (click here for further information on Verrutop) as well as dry needling carried out under anaesthetic. Prices vary depending on treatment.

Optional use of phenol will prevent the offending nail from growing back. Pre-assessment will be required prior to all appointments with written consent and an up to date list of all medication prior to any surgery is essential.
