Corns and calluses are thick, hardened layers of skin that develop when the skin tries to protect itself against friction or pressure. Corns occur over a small, concentrated area leading to a painful point over time and callus is hard skin over a larger surface area and is not always as deep rooted or painful as a corn. Corns and callus need debridement and an assessment to find the cause of friction and pressure to prevent them reoccurring. Corns are often mistaken for Verrucas.
